Ron Fernandez, B.A.Sc., P. Eng., GSC is founder and Principal of Fernandez Construction Claims Experts, providing dispute resolution services to owners, developers and contractors and expert services to legal counsel. Ron has over 30 years experience in the on-site construction management for civil infrastructure, heavy civil, airports, bridge rehabilitation, wind energy and municipal infrastructure projects. He also has over 12 years experience as a senior claims consultant preparing construction delay impact claims, expert reports and providing expert testimony for owners, contractors, and legal counsel on multi-disciplined projects, inclusive of civil, mechanical, and electrical works. He has been qualified as an expert witness to provide expert testimony in arbitration proceedings in the areas of lost labor productivity, schedule delay analysis methodologies and quantification of damages.
He has prepared over 50 claims and expert reports, attended several mediations, and delivered expert testimony in arbitration proceedings on one occasion in July 2014. Ron has been retained by over 20 construction lawyers across Canada to prepare Expert reports related to various construction disputes. Ron's extensive experience as a project engineer, project and construction manager on large scale multi-disciplined projects has given Ron the education and experience for understanding project dispute issues and for preparing thorough expert reports to be used in mediation, arbitration or litigation proceedings.
On over 30 occasions in the last 12 years, Ron has delivered intensive one to four day CCA accredited training courses on the subject of claims avoidance, preparation and management, to industry associations, owners, contractors, and subcontractors.
